Your doctor recommends you to do a regular body check-up. Why not do the same for your Internet-Of-Things (IOT) home or office network?
Safebaze is an mobile app, developed by a group of Berkeley graduate students, that discovers IOT devices within your network, provides you with security labels (much like nutrient labels for your food) and help you make necessary changes to improve security wellness of your IOT lifestyle.

Research from Cisco suggest there are about 27.1 billion networked devices in 2021. Among those, we do not know which ones of those are cyber safe. Many of us just plug it into our network and assumes the manufacturer will do a good job at ensuring your network or data secured.
Reports have shown that “15% of device owners don’t change the default passwords of the devices”. Places like schodan.io reveals large number of webcam that are still in default password and essentially broadcasting the image to the whole world. This issue is just the tip of the iceberg. There are large number of Internet of Things (IOT) devices in the market that have bad security design or configurations. Because there is no standard way of comparing the available security characteristics/features of these devices, consumers can only accept them as-is.
Much like the nutrient labels you see on a soda can, you can compare and make the right choice. We worked with security researcher and developed security and privacy labels that help you compare and benchmark the device you are using, so you can make the right healthy choice for your IOT portfolio.
We are currently beta testing our application, and more functionalities will be released over time.
